Claribel Lammers Graduates from Sts. Peter and Paul High School, Ottawa, Ohio

Clara (Claribel) Lammers, High School Portrait, 1939
Class of 1939, Saints Peter and Paul High School, Ottawa, Ohio
Lots of friends and family here, as well as classmates and Sisters!  Chuck's signature is toward the bottom, Jeanie's is at the top, Rosemary's is toward the upper right corner.
I imagine this was taken shortly after graduation; now that's she's away from the rule of the Sisters,
she could her  hair down a bit.

Clara Lammers Weds Roger Cecil Tharpe

The Armed Forces brought them together, Clara in the Army, Roger in the Navy.  They were wed on base.

By 1948, Clara was out of the service, and Roger was stationed on Guam.  They lived in a Quonset hut.

Memories of Birdie

I loved visiting with Birdie. She would tell me all sorts of true stories about when she and her siblings were young. Things I did not know about my grandma and grandpa, how they met. I loved her big old car with the 8 track tape deck. Once she drove me in it down the hill from her place to the pharmacy, it was so cool having everyone looking at us in that car. I'll always remember the anchovy stuffed olives in the martinis. I loved having a martini at the end of the day before dinner which she always prepared and I would make the salad. That's all she would let me do. We would sit and talk when I visited and work on our needlework. She got me back into knitting and I knit many hats for her to donate to a worthy cause. I remember during my first pregnancy I was living in Lansing, Michigan, and she and Ed stopped in just to say hi and to see me on their way cross country. From a very young age I remember her being very adventuresome and remember distinctly the time she took Peggy and I up into the small Cessna plane and how that felt. I always remember the stories I heard about Birdie and Rosie going on their exciting adventures to Alaska, etc. I will really miss her!

Birdie

I have always liked this photo. Peggy you have your mom's eyes. Birdie had beautiful hair, wish this picture was in color.

Birdie and Peggy

What a sweet picture. Birdie looks too young here to have a baby! I imagine this is Peggy as I had it shown as Birdie and Peggy. If I'm wrong please let me know!

Birdie and Frank Wiener Looking On

Not sure where this was taken but looks like our family was also visiting since that is my dad sitting in the background. Birdie always had such a nice slim shape.
